Justice Delayed (Part 3)

Can timely filing of FIRs and proper collection of forensic evidence help survivors win cases in the courts? Tragically not. Here, a survivor recounts the tale of her 21-year-long fight for justice in the courts that threw at her awful, humiliating questions. Advocate Aparna Bhat then explains the unequal and unfair legal processes involved in a rape case. Roop Rekha Verma of NGO Saajhi Duniya adds to this saying that court hearings get adjourned for the flimsiest of reasons, and raises pertinent questions about how delayed justice strikes at the heart of our democracy. This segment ends with Aamir in conversation with Justice Usha Mehra, who recommends the setting up of one-stop rape crisis centres that will enable survivors of rape to get speedy justice.
