How the RNTCP's approach often goes wrong is highlighted by Sadanand Lanjewar whose son was not treated for multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB) on time. Additional Deputy Director General of the Central TB Programme, Dr Kuldeep Singh Sachdeva, answers questions regarding the government program. Soumya Swaminathan, Director of the National Institute for Research on Tuberculosis, says the rising numbers are a blot on India's growth story.
