When I was 16, I met a guy whom I started dating—my irst ever boyfriend. He
made me realise that what was happening with me was so wrong at so many levels.
We used to get together and then break up often because even though I wanted to
be with him in my head, what was happening with my uncle made me feel dirty and
I was just disgusted with myself. I tried to kill myself twice thinking no one would
believe me.
Finally, when I was 20, I decided that this is it. I threatened my uncle and told him
that I would tell my family. He threatened to hurt my whole family. I still told my
family and they told me to shut my mouth as it will bring shame on the family and
cops too won’t do much due to lack of enough evidence. If he is reading this, I want
him to know that he fucked my life up and made me think I am worthless.

M ain BSc second year ka student hoon. Aaj ke pehle main sochta tha ki sirf mere
saath hi child sexual abuse hua hai par aaj pata chala ki yeh aur logon ke saath bhi
hota hai. Batate hue hichkichahat si ho rahi hai par pichhle 12 saal se main yeh dard
seh raha hoon, hala ki pichhle 2 saal se hum khud ko bachate aa rahe hai.
Mera shoshan karne wala aur koi nahi par mera tau ka beta hai jo mujhse 10 saal
bada hai. Satyamev Jayate ka show dekhne ke baad chaurahe pe woh ittefaq se
mere saamne aaya aur poori himmat juta ke maine usko zordar ek chaata maara.
Road pe sab dekh rahe the aur usne kuch nahi bola par I am sure ki woh samajh
gaya. Aaj main uss zindagi se mukt ho gaya aur anjaam jo hoga woh dekha jaayega.
Main khush hoon ab.

I am a PhD researcher and my research is on children with autism. During my
research, I met a 14-year-old girl with severe autism. She is a victim of child abuse
and even an AIDS victim because she was abused by her caretaker’s husband who
has AIDS. I spoke to her father and he was shocked when he found out. Now, an
NGO is helping both, the girl and her father.
