W hen I was 10 years old, I was sexually abused by my cousin brother. I have not
told this to anyone. Even now he is enjoying his life and he doesn’t have even a
little guilt in his mind. I am very upset.

I was studying in class 7 in a boarding school and I had come home for vacations.
My parents used to send me for private tuitions to a teacher who used to touch me
in absurd ways while teaching. For a couple of days I tolerated it but then I told my
mom about the happenings. Initially, she didn’t believe me and said he might be just
expressing affection but I refused to go for that tuition.
Next year, my cousin went to the same teacher and he came the very next day to me
asking what the reason was for abandoning the tuition. We learnt that we shared the
same problem. Now I am a grown man. I am working as a doctor and taking care
of people with disabilities.

I have two children and I stay with my in-laws in Ahmedabad. I am a widow. I
work at a private irm and earn my own bread and butter. Once, my daughter was
playing with her friends and after a few minutes, she came in crying and told me
that our neighbour was touching her on the lower part of her body since two days
and that it was paining.
For a moment, I was just shocked and then I spoke to my in-laws and called that
guy’s mother. She was not ready to listen. The next morning, I iled a case against
him. He was in prison for 12 days and then he got out on bail. After that, they all
came to our house to say sorry. They stay just opposite our house and I pray daily
that all should go well while I am away at the ofice.
