M y elder brother lives in Jharkhand and I live in Assam. He has been

diagnosed with schizophrenia. After taking the medicines, his body started to

crumble and his head feels very heavy always. He disbelieves everyone around
him, he can‘t sleep without the medicines and he gets annoyed for no reason.
He also talks, laughs and claps for no reason even when nobody is around him.

My father passed away in 2006 and my mother is the only person who is
staying with my brother and taking care of him. I am not able to do anything.
He had cleared the JEE entrance exam and also qualified for taking admission
into a BPharma course but his mental illness overpowered everything. We, the

family members, could not do anything. He is now around 41 years of age and
doing nothing but smoking cigarettes, harassing my mother and giving pain to
himself and others.

I know one person who is mentally ill due to schizophrenia. He is nearly 40

years old. He has been ill right from his birth. Earlier, he was living with his
parents, but now they are not in this world and he is homeless and just living

on the roads.
