I have seen that most of the times, people judge you by how good a student

you are. Two of the most common sayings I hear are, ―He is a good boy; he
never comes second in class.‖ or ―He is so intelligent. Have you seen his
marks?‖ I want to let everyone know that marks don‘t make a person good or
bad; their behaviour determines this.

My roommate committed suicide because his parents didn‘t understand that
studies don‘t make someone a good or bad person. I have seen my roommate
hang and I have been through a lot of mental trouble myself. I am very lucky

that my parents supported me and today, I am successful in my own way. I am
doing what I always wanted to do.

I am a 3D animator and a VFX artist. I work in Tamil Nadu. I was forced to

take up Science after class 10 when I actually wanted to do a diploma in

animation. Days passed and I kept dreaming about a career in animation.
When the results of my first year of Science exams were due, I was very scared.

I attempted suicide on that day and my friends took me to a hospital. I had
scored 86% in my class 10 Board Exams, but I scored only 48% in my first year

of Science. At last, my parents agreed and I joined an animation course. I was
the top student in that course, but my parents were still not proud of me as it
wasn‘t engineering. Is a student not allowed to choose what he or she wishes

to study? We must do something about this and the increasing student
suicides.
