I know someone whose father abused
her sexually from a very young age and I
have seen how it still affects her life after
so many years. This matter is so big but
never discussed openly and it is not as
rare as we seem to think it is.

I was also sexually abused when I was 17 years old by a family friend and it kept
happening for 3 months. This man eventually took away my virginity. I lived with
fear, embarrassment and shame for a long time. My family then moved to the US.
After watching your show today, I started to recall those memories. The people who
shared their stories on your show gave me a lot of courage and hope. I saw that they
too had gone through the same feelings of self-blame. I inally sought psychological
counselling and am trying my best to bring this topic to the forefront in my country.

A s per my information, a 2.5-year-old girl was sexually harassed within a Delhi
school’s premises by a male staff member but the school authorities have denied it.
The police and media are not supporting the parents. Upon contacting the Human
Resources Ministry and other government ofices, they keep asking us to go to
other departments saying the case does not belong to their department. Till date, no
action has been taken against the school authorities.
