I am in big trouble. I love one boy and even he loves me but his family is not ready for our marriage.
When we told them that we want to get married, his father and brother came to my home and beat him
up in front of us. They threatened us by saying that if we continue our relationship, they will kill us and
my family for their honour.
Now I fear that if I marry this boy, his family will burn me alive or kill me. I haven’t filed an FIR against
them because I’m not sure if the police will take any action against them as they are very rich and
powerful people and I’m from a middle-class family. I’m not in contact with him since then and don’t
even know how and where he is.

I just want to raise a question – is love a crime? The parents of the girl I am in love with say that I am a
North Indian so I cannot be trusted. Why am I not allowed to marry a South Indian girl? The mother of
the girl said that she will kill herself and her daughter if her daughter tells anyone about this issue. The
girl is now not allowed to go for work nor is she allowed to talk to anybody. In this 21st century, why are
women still being emotionally blackmailed? Isn’t emotional blackmail a crime?

I am an engineer working in Chennai. I have been in love with a colleague for the past one and a half
years. When her family came to know about our relationship, they forcibly took her to Kerala. Her
mother is a widow and her brother has a history of violence against his mother and sister. Her family
told her that the church will never allow this relationship.
We are both Christians – I am a Protestant and she is an orthodox Christian. She texted me asking for
help as she wants to be with me and her career has also been jeopardised. One day, her friend called her
mother to ask about her and all the friend could hear was the girl crying and her brother shouting from
behind. Please help us.

Please help my friend as she is in trouble. She loves someone. She is 21 and both she and her boyfriend
want to marry each other. But uski family uss ladke ke against hai kyunki woh doosri religion ka hai.
Uske father usko abuse karte hai aur mentally torture karte hai. Unhone yeh dhamki bhi di hai ki woh
usko jaan se maar denge. Issi baat se tang aakar woh two-three times suicide bhi attempt kar chuki hai.

I am from Rajasthan and I am a student of IIT. I am in a relationship with a girl since 2008. Her father
is opposed to our relationship even though I tried to explain to him that we will keep each other happy
and earn well too. But he says, “Mera samaj mujhe taana maarega agar maine Jat ladke ke saath mere
beti ki shaadi karaayi. Main yeh kisi bhi keemat par hone nahi de sakta.” Hope someone can help us.

I am in love with someone special for the last four and a half years. I’m 25. Our relationship is very
strong but her parents are opposed to it since she’s from Mali caste and I’m from Kunbi caste. We’re
both from the Other Backward Class (OBC) category. I need help. I am not even in a condition to think
anymore. I am little bit depressed and she is as well. Can you tell us how to convince her family?
