Jodhpur's getting cleaner and greener
18 months. That's how much time is needed for the Blue City Jodhpur to become garbage free. This campaign was kicked off at the Umaid Stadium on August 15 by Mr. Aamir Khan in the presence of the district magistrate Dr. Pritam Yashvant, Mr. C Srinivasan and hundreds of locals.
Mr Srinivasan had explained the Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) on the "Don't Waste Your Garbage" episode of the show Satyamev Jayate and is now spearheading this campaign.
Inspired by the use of simple techniques of garbage collection and segregation shown, Mr Yashvant invited Mr Srinivasan to help locals in Jodhpur adapt to these methods. Everyone, from officials to waste pickers, and locals to hotel owners were invited and trained to be part of this process.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Khan said that very soon people from across India would be inspired by Jodhpur and its dedication to become garbage free.
