W hen I was 6 years old, my paternal aunt was over and my 16-year-old cousin
tried to create physical closeness between us. When I was 7–8 years old, I went to
my aunt’s house and my 22-year-old brother-in-law took me to their terrace and
tried to rape me. Within a short while, my uncle arrived and stopped him. My uncle
hit him but told me not to tell anyone.
When I was in class 10, my English coaching classes teacher told me that he wanted
my help and that only I could help. I asked him innocently how I could help and
he said he “wants my hands” because he was not happy with his wife. He said he
could go to prostitutes too but he was worried about his reputation. He told me he
wouldn’t tell anyone if I agreed. I didn’t agree but I regret not telling my parents
and not complaining to the principal. I am just worried if he ever asked the same to
another girl. Asking a child something like this is also child abuse.
