T his story is about my niece. Her father, my cousin brother, is a Gujarati teacher

at a school in Gujarat. In 2007, my niece committed suicide on a railway track at
Bharuch Station. She was a second year engineering student at that time. Now she
is no more and today, the day of your show, happens to be her birthday.

My niece’s post-mortem report showed that she had had a lot of depression medicine
before her death. The reason for suicide was that she was raped by her own father.
She had asked for help from her mother, grandparents and dad’s real brother but no
one trusted or helped her.

She never told me any of this. I would have surely helped her. It was her younger
sister who told me everything, after her death. Her uncle is a police inspector and
so her father might not get punished for this crime. However, she has left a note,
asking that her father be punished.
