W hen my young maid was thrown out of her husband’s house, she went to her

father’s house and was sexually abused by him. She got pregnant too and couldn’t
talk to anyone about it.

I am 16 years old and I was sexually abused by an elder cousin when I was 11. The

abuse continued for 4 years. Some might even say, “Since you are gay, you must
have allowed your cousin to touch you. You must have enjoyed it.” Well, NO! It
hurts me.

I am a 34-year-old woman and I was sexually abused as a child by male youths

in the family. It has had a massive effect on me. I can’t trust any man and I have
struggled in my married life also with regard to trust.

I have not spoken about these incidents to anyone except my husband. Although I
never want to remember this time of my life, it keeps surfacing when I come face-
to-face with these men in my family. It makes me feel sick. The worst thing is that
I have to call them ‘bhai’. At times I try to tell myself that it was just young kids
experimenting but I keep wondering “Why me?”

I have also been a victim of child sexual abuse by various people at various

instances since the tender age of 5. My neighbour, father’s friend (must have been
70 years old at least), my irst cousin and my uncle have all done this to me. None
of them penetrated me but all of these incidents have certainly affected my soul,
heart and innocence.
